Little Gems

Childminders
We love welcoming child-minders to our group and we are glad that our group can help support your work. We aim to provide a safe and secure environment for children to play in but we ultimately rely on parental/ carer supervision of children.
 
Our group is spread out across multiple rooms and halls where there is not always a clear line-of-sight should children wander off.
 
To ensure the safety of all children in the event of an emergency (for example, a fire), we recommend a 1:3 ratio so that each adult is supervising no more than 3 children at a time. We recognise that childminders may occasionally look after additional children at the last minute to support parents/ other childminders so we will allow a 1:4 ratio on an occasional basis but not as the norm.

Little Gems is our church-led toddler group, here at Emmanuel. We run on a Thursday morning from 10am- 11.30am during term time. The group is suitable for all children under the age of five.

In our sessions, families are welcomed, and children are free to explore the toys, ride-ons and crafts in the hall. We also have a quieter baby-area. On dry days, we open up our garden space where the children can run around and explore additional ride-ons and outdoor activities.

During the session we offer the children a healthy snack and there are drinks and cakes for the adults too- there is no charge for refreshments.

We encourage carers to bring children’s cups along with them (we have spare available if you forget!).

At the end of our session we have clearing up time and then sit in a big circle to finish with song-time.

We suggest a voluntary contribution of £1.50 per family, which contributes to snacks, play equipment, end of year gifts and special sessions we may hold, such as Christmas and summer parties.

We are currently operating at maximum capacity, and have a waiting list for new families.
